3-DAYS TREKKING ADVENTURE – OLDOINYO LENGAI & LAKE NATRON

Embark on a 3-day trekking adventure to Oldoinyo Lengai, the sacred “Mountain of God,” and the breathtaking Lake Natron, home to flamingos and other wildlife. This trek combines volcanic landscapes, Maasai culture, crater views, and unique geological formations, making it an unforgettable adventure for active travelers.

Itinerary

Day 01 :

Arusha – Engaresero Village – Base of Oldoinyo Lengai (1,450 m – 2,500 m)

Depart from Arusha early morning and drive to Engaresero Village, a Maasai settlement near Oldoinyo Lengai. Meet your local guides and start trekking through savannah and volcanic landscapes to reach the base camp. Explore nearby craters and enjoy the sunset over the volcano.

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Terrain: Volcanic slopes, rugged paths

Day 02 :

Summit Oldoinyo Lengai (2,500 m – 2,962 m) and Descend to Lake Natron

Begin the summit trek pre-dawn to witness a spectacular sunrise from Oldoinyo Lengai. After reaching the summit (2,962 m), descend gradually to Lake Natron, enjoying panoramic views and the unique volcanic landscape along the way. Visit local Maasai villages en route.

Day 03 :

Lake Natron – Flamingo Sightseeing – Arusha

Explore Lake Natron, famous for its millions of flamingos and vibrant red waters caused by algae. Enjoy optional walks to local waterfalls and soda ash formations. After lunch, drive back to Arusha, completing the adventure.
